Week 5: Digital Societies?
The final session of our Digital Societies module at City University London is today. If there is such a concept as “digital culture(s)”, what are some of the key issues around the “digitial society” or should we say “digital societies”?
Time has flown and today we have the final session(s) of our Digital Cultures modules. We have attempted to offer a kaleidoscope of perspectives that might help us to re-configure the digital media/digital culture landscape.

On Weeks 3 and 4; Easter Break; The Future*
A quick post at the Digital Cultures blog on Weeks 3 and 4, with some photos of our superstar guest lecturers.
It’s been quite a journey: it makes sense that given that we have been discussing the implications of using digital media everything has passed so fast and at the same time it’s been quite labour-intensive.
The materials we have collected on Moodle are a good indicator of the intensity and complexity of the questions we have been working on, and a quick look at the links we have collected under the #CityDigiCult hashtag on Twitter gives us back a plethora of work to consider.
On Week 3 I really enjoyed how we went from Sabrina Francis’ presentation on social media strategy at City University London to historical and theoretical questions of collaboration and authorship in art in Blaise Cronin’s guest lecture.

At the British Library: Open Access Monographs in the Humanities and Social Sciences Conference
I am honoured to have been included in the programme for the Open Access Monographs in the Humanities and Social Sciences conference which will take place the 1st and 2nd of July 2013 at the British Library.
At the University of Nottingham: Beyond the Book? Open Access Discussion
On Monday 25th March I will participate in a panel discussion on Open Access at the Beyond the Book? The future of academic publishing conference at the University of Nottingham.
Week 4: Networks and Participatory Culture. Digital Cultures is running at full steam now. Guests: Tim Causer, Eliza Anyangwe, Martin Eve and Nora McGregor.
The UK might be bracing itself for Arctic conditions and floods but Digital Cultures is running at full steam now. Today Friday 22th March 2013 we’ll have a very exciting set of sessions.
