Adeline Virginia Woolf ( 25 January 1882 – 28 March 1941) was an English writer, considered one of the most important modernist 20th-century authors. Her novel Mrs Dalloway (1925) and her essay  A Room of One’s Own (1929) (in which she wrote the much-quoted dictum, “A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction”) are among her best-known works. P.S. Needless to say the National Portrait Gallery, London, has an extraordinary online collection of digitised Virginia Woolf portraits in their collection. However their licensing impedes derivatives (why?!) so  my only option was to use the Wikimedia Commons version.  [If you read all the way here thank you- you are my ideal reader!].
